In Photos: Where to Go in Geelong, Victoria

Sunday, November 24, 2019

Hi, world! First blog post after almost a year! Previously, I have hinted that something keeps me busy. It is our move to Australia so expect that my posts will be based here. :)
It is just now that I got to type words here. Hopefully, I'll be able to continue this. In AU, we have been to Mt. Macedon, Yarra Valley, Mt. Bawbaw, Mt. Hotham, Dandenong Ranges, Brighton, and of course, Melbourne city. I'll push myself to post about it. Enough with intro, Geelong part now. Please sing with me... Geelong ng palad... Ang buhay ay... Geelong ng Palad... HAHAHA. If you are a Filipino, you'd get this corny knock knock joke 😆

Geelong's Map
As reference, here is Geelong's map we saw while walking:

#1 NATIONAL WOOL MUSEUM

Once you enter this building, you'll see a souvenir shop related to wool. We did not enter the musuem as there was an entrance fee (kuripot HAHA). It was late in the afternoon so we opted for stroll.

#2 GEELONG WATERFRONT
Strolling here is so relaxing. You can see the Royal Geelong Yacht Club, beach, carousel, fireman bollard, birds, sky, "North" artworks consisting of seven "shark fins", the big wheel, and so on...

#3 GEELONG GALLERY

#4 CUNNINGHAM PIER

#5 ST MARY OF THE ANGELS BASILICA

#6 GEELONG OLD GAOL / GEELONG GAOL MUSEUM

We just walked around and entered the areas without entrance fee. #tipid

Other Places To Visit
Since we arrived there around 2:30 in the afternoon, we were not able to go to all places. Here is a list for you:

  1. Adventure Park Geelong
  2. Geelong Botanic Gardens
  3. Eastern Beach Reserve
  4. Eastern Beach Road
  5. Narana Aboriginal Cultural Center
  6. Johnstone Park
  7. Geelong Library and Heritage Center

Transportation
We went there via car with the help of Google Maps. It's an hour drive from Melbourne CBD. You can go there by taking the V/Line trains. There were buses but I have not seen trams in the area where we walked.

Food
We've noticed that there are lots of cafes and restaurants in the center. There is a shopping mall, Westfield, where in you can fill your tummy. Even in the street side, you can quickly dine in. Just be mindful of the closing time. Check first before walking all the way there.

Also, don't forget to always check the weather forecast!

Australia's city, suburbs, and regional areas have its own beauty. Like each of us, everyone has theirs so stop comparing, appreciate, and don't hate.

Here's a not so vlog:

'til next post,
