Tayo na sa Antipolo! At doon maligo tayo! Sa batis na... kung tawagin,. ay.. Hi! Hi! Hinulugang Taktak! Lalalala... <sing with me>

I was in my third grade elementary when I heard this song. As a matter of fact, I always imagined Hinulugang Taktak as a wishing well. Last April holiday, I set foot at it. Actually this blog post is about the third destination during the half a day Antipolo road trip. Click these for the previous posts:

My Mondays to Saturdays are always full so I am making sure that I will post at least one on Sundays. Obviously, I am not dressed appropriately. Haha! You'll know the reason later... Ugh, okay. I'll spill it. I dressed like that for the Pinto Art Museum! :) I promise to post it soon. That place was so beautiful.

About Hinulugang Taktak

HINULUGANG TAKTAK is one of the tourist spot found in Brgy. Dela Paz Antipolo City. It's height is 12 m. This falls was made famous by the song "Tayo na sa Antipolo"  by German San Jose (Gerry Brandy) of Malate, Manila which immediately made national attention. On June 15, 1952, Hinulugang Taktak was proclaimed a National Park. During the 16th century the residence nearby complained for boisterous sound produced by the bell during Angelus. The people demanded the local priest to remove the bell. And so the priest had to take it to the nearby river. This explains the name "Hinulugang Taktak" which means "Where the bell was dropped". Cool isn't? Antipolo is known for being a religious place and Hinulugang taktak also became a tourist spot and remarkable target for it's beautiful ambiance and environment. During 1980's the government acknowledge it as a National Park. source: http://alluringantipolo.weebly.com/hinulugang-taktak.html

The waterfall area has been designated as a National Park by Department of Environment and Natural Resources and is one of the two most popular tourist spots in Antipolo City, Rizal's capital, the other being the Antipolo Cathedral. In 1990, is has been proclaimed as National Historic Shrine under RA 6964. Other tourist sites are Mystical Cave, Pinto Art Museum, and Luljetta Hanging Springs.

Hinulugang Taktak was inevitably charming way back, according to people who have seen the place decades ago. Its nice to see that the government funded this Antipolo landmark. I think the place is much better now compared to the past as some derogatory comments were publihsed years ago. Another room for improvement would be the obnoxious smell of the water body. Though they already delegated personnels for cleaning up the place, I recommend testing the water. I mean, maybe they should test water sample to see the parameters such BOD, COD, TSS, and other applicable measurements. With those results, the government can assess what to do. Maybe they should do something other than adding chlorine. Maybe the source of the water has something to improve... and maybe.. the locals living there would want to help. Its not only the responsibility of the local government but also the residents there.

We are all stewards of nature. We didn't inherit Earth. We just borrowed it. No one has the right to deplete it that much. Every drop of water is precious. Every human generates waste. Yes. That will be forever a fact. However, it is our responsibility to care and monitor how we dispose them. As much as possible, reduce, then reuse, then recycle, then recover, before disposal. Pleaaaaaase! Water bodies are not huge garbage bins! Even if others are doing it, be conscious enough. If you really love you future generations, tap your neighbor.

Families can swim here with a fee. I encourage you to inquire first before going there. By the time we went there, pools were closed.

We should start now not until the last drop of water misused. It is not too late to save mother Earth! #envilove #enviengineering
